10 Best Snow Removal Services in the US

by Jurica Magoci February 15, 2017
www.fueloyal.com
With the crazy weather this year I looked into snow plow services. Depending on what area you are from, perhaps this isn’t an issue. But for a good part of the country this is not just an issue it is a necessity! Without it we wouldn’t be able to get out of the house, because not everyone knows how to drive in winter. So if you’re a rookie that just got the CDL license, you might be able to earn a little extra cash plowing snow. www.pixabay.comWWW.PIXABAY.COM However, I had no idea just how ‘real’ the snow plow services industry truly is. I don’t mean that to sound either naive or disrespectful, I just never really thought about it! Oh sure I have seen the state road crews plowing and salting the roads. I have seen the plows clearing the parking lots as well. But to be honest I really thought they were just some guys with 4×4 trucks and a plow making extra money. I really had no idea just how big of an industry the snow plow services actually are. 10-best-snow-plow-services-in-the-usSOURCE: WWW.DAIMLER.COM According to IBISWorld, a leader in providing business information since 1971, the snow plow services is a 14 billion dollar a year industry! There are almost 300,000 people who make their living removing ice. That doesn’t count those who do it a side cash job or just to help out, but actually employed as snow removal professionals. www.ci.montgomery.il.usWWW.CI.MONTGOMERY.IL.US Now of course snow removal is a seasonal job for most. Many of the truck drivers either do it on a part-time basis or perform other function within the company between snow storms. However, in many parts of the country ice and snow removal can be almost full-time depending on the fierceness of the season. So it’s no surprise that’s where you’ll find the best snow removal companies.

Some Useful Information About Best Snow Removal Services

However, the birth of snow removal as a professional industry is relatively young. I am not saying there weren’t professions all along, but in the early 90’s things began to change. It went away from the ‘good-ole-boy’ with a pick-up to an actual industry. www.tamaquaarea.comWWW.TAMAQUAAREA.COM With the changes came the Snow & Ice Management Association (SIMA) in 1996. This changed the face of snow plow services. Soon the seasonal contractors began to fade, though many still operate, it became a business (snow and ice management). As with most changes the best snow removal services saw the inclusion of proper training and the institutions to train would be snow removers. YoutubeYOUTUBE

Snow Plow Equipment

If you’re in the market for equipment used for snow plow services, there are a few links to help point you in the right direction. As usual these are not the only snow removal equipment suppliers and/or manufactures but can give you a good start in your research. www.directindustry.comWWW.DIRECTINDUSTRY.COM

Places Where You Can Learn All About Snow Plow Services

There is a ton of information out there now available for those wishing to learn more, beside the SIMA. These resources can help keep you up to date on the laws and regulations, related to the industry. It can give you tips on business related issues and even offer some good information in general. As usual there are more than just these, but here is couple to point you in the right direction. www.pixabay.comWWW.PIXABAY.COM As I said on the beginning, I had no idea just how big this industry actually is. I have listed 10 companies that offer the best snow removal services. I created this list off what seemed to be some of the best out there based on reputation. However, you might prefer another company. Another thing to remember; though the industry has grown many of those who offer snow plow services are small in size and big in service. So do your research and find the best in your local area! www.pixabay.comWWW.PIXABAY.COM Unlike some of the top ten list that I’ve made in my previous blog articles, such as top truck driving schools, top trucker magazines, or top reality trucking TV shows, it was hard to find the top ten national best snow removal services. This is because snow plow services are such a seasonal thing. Unless you are kid who shovels driveways you’re not going to make a living strictly providing snow plow services. So most have either other jobs, or provide other services. It seems a common theme with these is the tree and landscape industry. As an additional service they plow, salt, and clear snow/ice. www.commons.wikimedia.orgWWW.COMMONS.WIKIMEDIA.ORG

Average Cost For Hiring A Snow Plow Services

When it comes to costs for hiring a snow plow services, the prices will vary. The average cost of snow plowing ranges between ($10 – $75+), but some customers end up paying way over that price, depending on some factors. www.pinterest.comWWW.PINTEREST.COM Factors that are determining the cost are:
  • Seasonal Contract: You can also go for a seasonal contract. This way you pay a seasonal rate, and the company would take the responsibility of clearing off the snow on a timely basis as per the agreement. It is highly recommended for people who live in areas of high snowfall. Even snow removal companies prefer this method over others.
  • By The Hour: This is the simplest way to charge, and you are get charged according to the number of hours  that the snow plow services spent on the job. Charges will still vary, depending on the equipment used; after all it is not same when you are working with a snow plow and when you are working with the shovel!! Am I right???
  • Per Push: When you hire a company on per push basis, you will be charged for each trip to your location that the company will make, so this way the price also varies and depends from the area that needs to be plowed. They charge extra for additional services like salting.
