Naturalistic Mixed GardenHighland Park, IL
Bringing naturalism back to this home garden creates a sense of curiosity with each season change
This Highland Park home was previously obscured by large evergreen plantings, so the client was eager to create a garden to provide further ecological benefit and year-round interest to the entry of their home. The planting design is a naturalistic curation of primarily native perennials, with selected exotic plants of distinction. The range of woodland edge to prairie exposure on the property allows for unique plant combinations and increased biodiversity on the site. We were also able to re-use the limestone wall material and tie in a rustic-edge natural stone path to add age to the beautiful home’s masonry details.
