Join Us this Earth Day to Help
“Clean Up, Evanston!”
Dear Evanston Friends,
We love our home town, and we’re sure you do, too.
So join us on April 22nd and participate in Evanston’s annual Earth Day and Arbor Day community clean-up event, “Clean up, Evanston!,” from 9 to 11 a.m. at locations throughout the City.
Community groups and individuals of all ages can visit volunteerevanston.org or call/text 847-448-4311 to sign up to meet at any of these designated clean-up sites:
Ladd Arboretum and Twiggs Park – Ecology Center, 2024 McCormick Blvd.;
James Park – Fieldhouse, Dodge Avenue at Mulford Street;
Lovelace Park – Fieldhouse, Grosse Point Road at Thayer Street;
Lakefront, Greenwood St. to Clark St. – 1401 Sheridan Place;
Ingraham Park – Bike racks just west of the Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave.;
North Shore Channel – Dammrich Rowing Center, 3220 Oakton St., Skokie (ages 8 and up);
Harbert Park – 1300 McDaniel Ave.;

In addition to the clean-up activities, the Evanston Ecology Center, 2024 McCormick Blvd., will host free, family-friendly Earth Day festivities and nature play from 9 to 11 a.m.
Evanston will also hold a tree planting ceremony in front of the Morton Civic Center at the intersection of Ridge A.
Leonard Place, at 10 a.m., to celebrate the City’s longstanding Tree City USA designation.
This year’s event is made possible through partnerships with Evanston TreeKeepers, District 65, District 202, Northwestern University, Canal Shores, Friends of the Chicago River, Alliance for the Great Lakes, and Ridgeville Park District. Each partner organization is hosting at least one clean-up site.
District 65 school clean-up locations will be added to VolunteerEvanston in the coming weeks. Instructions and a description of activities planned for each site are available on volunteerevanston.org.
Community members who would like to clean up a park or public space that is not listed should select the “Self-organized park clean up” option on VolunteerEvanston. Bags may then be picked up from the Ecology Center during business hours between April 19 and 21 and between 8:30 and 11 a.m. on April 22.
Evanston Township High School, in partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Evanston, will continue its long-standing tradition of organizing a community clean-up in the area surrounding the high school, also on the morning of April 22.
