Organic Lawn Care and Full Landscape Maintenance Are Two Different Greenwise Services

A homeowner can hire us for the lawn without hiring us to maintain the entire property.

The reverse is also important to understand. A homeowner looking for mowing, bed care, seasonal cleanup, and general landscape maintenance is asking for something broader than a lawn-treatment program.

We offer both.

Our organic lawn service is centered on turf health, with fertilization, natural weed-control approaches, seeding, aeration, and related soil work. Our landscape-maintenance division handles the physical upkeep of the property, including mowing, beds, mulch, seasonal cleanups, and recurring full-service maintenance.

Those two services can work together, but they solve different problems.

Start with what you mean when you say you want the lawn taken care of

Some homeowners want help because weeds keep appearing and the turf is thin.

They are comfortable mowing themselves or already have someone who handles it. What they do not want to manage is fertilization, seeding, aeration, and the decisions that affect the lawn beneath the mower.

That is much closer to our organic lawn-care program.

We currently describe a five-step program that feeds the turf at different points in the growing season and incorporates natural weed-control methods, seeding, and other turf work as needed. That can include organic seeding when thin areas need more than fertilizer alone.

We also offer core aeration and soil-health service for compacted lawns, including areas where Chicago and Milwaukee clay soils and heavy use can restrict air and water movement into the root zone.

None of that automatically means we need to mow the property.

A homeowner can be looking for better turf management without turning over everything outside the front door.

Full-service maintenance starts when the problem is bigger than turf

Now picture another property.

The lawn needs mowing. Beds need weeding. Perennials need attention throughout the season. Mulch needs to be maintained. Fall leaves need to be cleaned up. The homeowner is tired of coordinating several separate visits and trying to remember which company handles which part of the landscape.

That is much closer to our full-service maintenance program.

We describe that service as ongoing care for the entire landscape rather than lawn treatment alone. It includes regular mowing and trimming, garden care, seasonal cleanups, and other recurring maintenance built around the property.

We also offer garden-bed maintenance separately, with recurring attention to weeds, bed conditions, pruning, and plant care. Seasonal cleanups handle the spring and fall work that sits outside a normal mowing visit.

This is an important difference because a lawn can be healthy while the rest of the property looks neglected.

Fertilizer does not weed a perennial bed.

Aeration does not cut back spent plants.

A mowing crew does not automatically solve a turf-nutrition problem.

The property may need one service, both, or different levels of each.

Homeowners who enjoy gardening may want less help than they think

Full-service maintenance is not automatically better simply because it covers more.

Plenty of homeowners enjoy their gardens.

They want to choose plants, prune shrubs, work in the beds, and spend weekends outside. They may have no interest in turning those parts of the property over to a maintenance crew.

Their frustration may be limited to turf.

In that case, a focused organic lawn program can leave the gardening in the homeowner's hands.

Another person may feel exactly the opposite. They like the landscape but have no interest in managing it. For them, a full-service program can remove several recurring tasks from the calendar.

The right service depends partly on how much of the landscape you still want to own as a hobby.

That is a more useful question than asking which package is larger.

Design and maintenance can also overlap without being the same project

Our business has expanded beyond maintenance and lawn care into landscape design and construction. LandCrafters is now part of Greenwise, adding established design-build capabilities to our lawn and maintenance operation.

That means an existing maintenance customer may eventually have a larger landscape project.

A bed needs to be redesigned.

Drainage needs attention.

A patio or walkway changes.

Plantings need to be replaced rather than merely maintained.

That becomes design and installation work, not another routine maintenance visit.

The advantage of having those services in the same company is that the project can be discussed in the context of a property we may already know.

Still, it is useful to keep the scopes separate in your own mind.

Maintenance cares for what exists.

Design and installation change the property.

Organic lawn care manages the turf program.

Those categories may interact, but they are not different names for the same work.

Look at the whole year before choosing the scope

A homeowner calling in spring may be thinking about one immediate issue.

The grass looks thin.

The beds need cleanup.

The property needs mulch.

Before choosing a service, think through the rest of the season.

Who will mow?

Who will handle the beds in summer?

Who deals with fall cleanup?

Do you want to manage those items yourself?

Is your real concern the health of the turf, or are you trying to hand off the whole landscape?

Our service menu is broad enough that the answer does not have to be all or nothing.

That is the useful part of separating the services.
